The Return From Fingal
Seamus Ennis
RTE 199 CD

In 1940 Seamus Ennis was 21 years of age. This classic release features Seamus Ennis piping from 1940 till 1978. A fascinating documentation of his piping journey. Seamus stands astride Irish traditional like a colossus, musician, singer, collector and composer. There will never be another like him. The Master.

· Seamus Ennis (1919-1982) was one of the great uilleann pipers of modern times, as well as being one of the most important collectors of Irish music of the 20th century.

· In July 1997 RTÉ re-mastered and released 26 tracks of Ennis's playing that had been recorded for Radio Eireann and later RTÉ TV between 1948 and 1980.

· This critically acclaimed CD sold out in 2002 and is now re-issued by RTE.

· Produced by Peter Browne (who also wrote the 24 page liner notes) and re-mastered by Harry Bradshaw, the re-issue contains photographs never before published.

· When it was first released in 1997, the CD was immediately recognized as an important contribution to traditional music publishing;
